I had a very stressful week last week without works and home life. In fact, I think I’ve been having some stressful weeks for a while and it all came crashing down on me yesterday. I had hit a wall and found myself snapping at everyone and everything.
As a single parent, I don’t have the luxury of having the other parent handle things while I catch my breath, but I do have an amazing support system of family members. My mom, sister, aunts and uncle are a tremendous help to me and the boys but I’m the last person to ask for help with anything from anyone. I’m working through that trauma response in therapy right now so that’s another post. However, I needed to help myself by taking a step back from everything and rest.
I did that today, along with some writing, which relaxes me. However, I do wish that I had listened to my body giving me warning signs that I was overwhelmed and exhausted.

As a mom we think that we can do it all and fit it all in but truth is we can’t. So for all of my overwhelmed mamas, remember to listen to your body and don’t ignore the warning signs that you may be overwhelmed.
K, I’m glad you wrote this – it really speaks to me, and I hope this week is easier. It’s hard to fight the overwhelm which often seems to be coming from every direction. Feeling you on this!

Thanks Cat. So many of us, especially parents, can relate to the overwhelming tasks of balancing our families and everything else that is thrown at us. We’ve got this though!
