I know it’s been a minute since I’ve written, and to be honest, it’s because I’ve been battling some tough moments. Between facing depression at night and anxiety during the day, life has felt overwhelming. But today, after hearing a powerful word in church, I felt inspired to share my story — one that I believe many moms, especially Black moms, can relate to.
Last year, I lost my job, and honestly, I wasn’t prepared for the mental toll it took on me. I questioned everything — my identity as a professional, my role as a mother and provider, and even my place as a child of God. It felt like I was drowning. But through the grace of God, the prayers of family and friends, and my own unwavering faith, I managed to stay afloat.
I eventually accepted a job — one I knew from the start wasn’t the right fit. Chaos showed itself in the interview, but with my savings running low and my boys depending on me, I felt I had no choice. After just a few days on the job, I realized my anxiety wasn’t just “getting back into the swing of things” — it was my spirit telling me this wasn’t where I belonged. Three months later, after enduring a humiliating encounter with the COO, I walked away.
This time, though, I left without a backup plan — yet somehow, I felt peace. No fear. No panic. Just peace. Because this time, I knew God had me.
Recently, everything I’ve heard — from church sermons to encouraging words from friends — has echoed one powerful message: Move forward. Don’t stand still. As a single mom, I don’t have the luxury of standing still, but sometimes life’s setbacks can leave us feeling stuck. What I’m learning now is that no matter how unclear the path may seem, faith will always light the way.
I know many of you may be navigating your own struggles — questioning your purpose, feeling overwhelmed, or wondering how you’ll get through the next challenge. Let me encourage you: Keep moving. Even when you’re unsure of what’s next, trust that God is working things out in your favor.
I’m excited to share that I have some amazing content coming your way — content that’s practical, inspiring, and just for us as women, moms, and educated Black women trying to thrive in a world that doesn’t always make it easy.
So I ask that you continue this journey with me. If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain, let’s walk this path together. Stay connected, keep pushing forward, and know that you are never alone.
